Apparently the best time to work on these beauties is the middle of the night. Or at least that is the case where I live Image found here |
Anyway being the largely disorganised being that I am, coupled with the fact that it is school holidays, I naturally didn't have a post scheduled before the power went out. Thankfully (or not) Lovely awoke at 3.08am and lay there yelling about how hot it was without the fan on. She then moved on to how dark it was.
Somehow I refrained from strangling her, or repeatedly stabbing her with a fork which quick frankly I think is a rather major achievement. Instead I calmly sat with her in the hope she would nod back off to the land of sleep. All the while going holy toledo batman I haven't sorted TIK for this week.
Just as I made the decision to get my phone and use the remaining 30% battery to see if I could do a rather dodgy make do post before the battery went flat the powers that be took pity on me and returned electricity to my humble abode (and the entire suburb). As the computer automatically came on as well (on account of me forgetting about the notified power outage and it being turned on when the power went out) I took it as the perfect time to get this post out. I mean 3.59am has to be good for something doesn't it?
Zany has now joined me which means I know it is well and truly time to wrap this baby up.
I know that I will be back at a more reasonable time and share some more things I know over at Making Time to Make it Matter because this week I really wanted to share the things I know about hanging with lots of kids during the school holidays.
I know that this is the easiest linky ever to join in with because we ALL know something
I know you should totally grab the little button below and come and join in and share what something YOU know.
I know that you should also check out all the things that others know and have shared in the links below.
I know that I get beyond excited every time someone adds a link. And I just know that you all want to excite me!
Linked and run again but will be back for sure later today!!
ReplyDeleteNo worries lovely, thanks so much for joining in, hope you have a wonderful day
DeleteI hate having no power, last year all the power poles in my street were replaced which meant days of having the power turned off. It meant forced housework for me as my computer only works if it is plugged into the wall!!
DeleteOh gosh Ann that must have been awful.
DeleteWhenever we lose power I really do realise just how horrifyingly dependent I am on technology. It's really quite depressing. Happy the power came back on and I hope the rains bring some relief for you all up there! Have a great weekend Rhi!
ReplyDeleteWe have a gas cooktop and hot water - BUT - somehow (I think it's just the hot water) has an electric ignition so STILL doesn't work when the power goes out! WTF!
DeleteWe have gas oven and cook top and solar hot water, not that we really need hot water up here at the moment. The thing that gets me most about no electricity is the peace and quiet.
DeleteOh man! I would have got very cranky with her!
ReplyDeleteWe had power all last night thankfully! I get so frustrated when it's out like that in the middle of the night
Cranky wasn't even the start of if Jess, let's just say she was lucky there were no forks handy and I was too lazy to walk down stairs to get one. There was maintenance apparently that needed to be done, we were notified about it a week or so ago but naturally I totally for got all about it.
DeleteNow that's blog dedication. Even if my kids woke me at 3am, I still couldn't be stuffed to put a blog post together!!!
ReplyDeleteHope you catch up on some shut eye over the weekend!
I had been asleep for about six hours by that time Janet so my body thought it had to stay awake. Figured when the power came back on I may as well use the time wisely. I hope I catch up on the shut at lunch time!
DeleteI always keep a super stocked freezer and fridge, which means whenever there's a power outage my thought turns to all the cooking I will have to do with the defrosted meat. Not fun in a heatwave either :)
ReplyDeleteyes I worry about that as well. Thankfully though we have a few good hours of no power before that has to happen
