Today is...

...the first day of the rest of your life.

...filled with the hope of tomorrow.

...a brand new start.

...anything you want it to be

please use your imagination to place the words
over the photo. Time would not allow me
to do it for you. Or perhaps it was skill,
time sounds better though.

Times have been a bit tough of late here.  I think it is just 'that' time of year. The weather is changing as a new season is getting ready to unfold. Unlike other places that greet the start of spring like the fresh of breath air that it is, at the end of a long cold winter, the 'build up' here is the complete opposite.

As we patiently await the arrival of the first rains the air gets thicker, heavier and most of all hotter. There is no cool breeze to blow the new season in. There is only stillness in anticipation of the promise of wet relief. Surrounded by the stench of constant sweat. Even the strongest of deodorants still leave a lingering whiff that no nose finds appealing at the end of a long hot day.

Eventually the rain will come. Slowly at first. Just a speck here, a drop there. Tiny little drips escaping from the grips of the clouds as they rush off to burst over land where I am not. Waiting for the rains is worse than waiting for Godot.

Eventually it will come though. It is just a question of when and for how long.

But this post wasn't supposed to be about waiting for the rains. This post was supposed to be about hope and about making the most of not just today but each and every day. Because at the end of the day that is all that really matters, making sure we have made the most of the day we were given.

Which of course is sometimes easier said than done.
